Farewell. Livestrong. Just do It |
So, it has finally come to an end. Lance Armstrong’s been proved guilty of all allegations. This for some is devastating, for others it is no surprise and for the rest it is justice. I’m not going report about what exactly the situation is. We all know what’s happened - we all hear about every movement the man makes. But all seven TdF titles? Really? Perhaps you agree with the decision, perhaps you don’t – but bear in mind, he wasn’t proven guilty for testing positive but simply for not continuing to fight the allegations. So why is it that he gets stripped of EVERYTHING and a lifetime ban whilst so many of the positive tested athletes get a slap on the wrist? Ok, let us not dwell on it, it’s done. What really got my attention with all this is that Nike, one of Armstrong’s biggest endorsers will continue to back him. I think the fact that one of the world’s most recognised brands risking their own reputation in supporting him through this says a lot. Nike never dropped Armstrong when he had cancer and they’re not dropping him now. The relationship between the two helps us realise that walking away doesn’t make you a loser, it doesn’t make you a quitter and it most definitely does not make you a cheater. “Enough is enough” says Armstrong. I feel that the he was rightfully proved guilty. It is sad to find out that he would cheat to gain a competitive advantage. However one wrong doing should not be reason enough for a brand such as Nike to pull out.I feel that Nikes reputation is not on the line although its association with Lance proves to be more than meets the eye.
ReplyDeleteHe was not proven guilty - they have not been able to provide any samples that have tested positive...What is sad is that the media can fuel assumption and people go on what they read without knowing background facts.
DeleteAt the moment the only person that knows if Lance is guilty or not is Lance himself.
He wasn't proved guilty of blood doping. He's just walking away from an unnecessary battle- he has nothing to prove, i think he's done that enough by defeating cancer when having a three percent chance of survival. I don't believe Nike would support a cheater. He last won the Toue de France in 2005- seven whole years ago and they've still been on his back, it seems like it became personal.
ReplyDeleteWhere are the results that have tested positive???????????? There to date are not any, if there was hard evidence that there are positive results why are they not being published???? So until then Lance should be regarded as innocent until proven guilty.
ReplyDeleteFor "Nike" to be supporting Lance should make one wonder!!!!
Keep it Real....Viva Tour de Lance!!!!
I think it is just terrible .... how many times do you need to go through the same process? How can they go back 7 years ... if they couldn't prove anything then, why doing now again? You are innocent until proven guilty!
